Rubbish Friends – Litter Picking Group
Making Childwall A Litter-Free Zone
We are a group of 20 dedicated residents who turn out on the second Sunday of every month at 2pm to make Childwall a pleasant place to walk, litter-free, and it has become an obsession with many of us, now unable to pass a packet on the street.
Rubbish Friends are out clearing litter throughout the year, but in December, we have a Christmas celebration.
Here are some of our brilliant team.
A huge THANK YOU to James at Calisa for giving us our Christmas Celebration free of charge.

Rubbish Friends have been picking up litter all around Childwall since July 2020.

That’s an awful lot of litter.

ATTENTION
EDEN Florist at the Triangle has kindly offered a discount on all purchases to Rubbish Friends in appreciation for the work they do.
Eden has shown their appreciation in the past with gifts to litter pickers and we thank them for their continued support.

BUT did you know there are now 2 litter-picking groups in Childwall?
As well as the Childwall Triangle Rubbish Friends we now have the Childwall Fiveways Rubbish Friends
The Childwall Fiveways Rubbish Friends litter-picking group began on the 8th of May 2022 after residents became fed up with the constant mess around there and decided to do something about it.
Cllr Storey and Cllr Maloney sponsored the group by supplying litter pickers and refreshments and the Childwall Fiveways Rubbish Friends was created.

Since that date, the litter picks have become a regular occurrence, and on the second Sunday of every month at 2pm, our groups meet to clean up the area we live in.
Here are the two groups in action
It didn’t matter that it was one of the hottest days of the year.
At the Triangle

In some places, you just need a mask. The service road behind the shops is one of them.

The second bag of the day for some volunteers.

Even the middle of the road gets cleared, which is why we need our hi-viz jackets.
At the Fiveways

Two of our expert pickers tackle the bust stop.

You’re never too young to lend a hand. Thanks guys.

Even the service roads get a good clean.

A meeting place when all is done. Is that our councillor? Yes, Cllr Pat Maloney brought the litter pickers and gave a hand too.

Service roads needn’t be dirty places that make you hurry through. This one has been reclaimed.
Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who come out in all weather and do a brilliant job.
These are some photos of the 2 teams in action. What a difference they make.

Thank you to all of our volunteers who make such a difference in our neighbourhood.
